The Photo Story of the Damascus House and Emmaus House redevelopment 2010-2011

Pre development

Emmaus House originates from around 1700.  It remained a private residence until the early 1900s, when it was sold to the Salisbury Diocesan Training College and became a teacher training college.

It was purchased by Alabare's Trustees in 1996 and became our Registered Care Home for 10 adults with learning disabilities.

Damascus House started life in 1904 as an extension to the neighbouring Emmaus House, and during the 1960s underwent further works to provide accommodation to students from the college.

Alabare's Trustees purchased the buildings in 1995, with the vision of turning it into accommodation for homeless, vulnerable adults in Salisbury.
