Press release
New Housing Support for Bournemouth
Alabaré Christian Care Centres, a charity which supports homeless and vulnerable people, is extending its work into Bournemouth with a new Floating Support Service which opened on Monday 16 June 2008.
The new service will offer assistance to people who are homeless and those taking up a new home to help them manage their tenancies. Available support will include helping individuals understand their housing rights and responsibilities or signposting them to other services or activities within the community. Providing help with skills such as budgeting and filling in application forms can make a huge difference to individuals who otherwise may fall into rent arrears and face eviction.
Alabaré was awarded the contract to run the new service by Bournemouth Borough Council Supporting People team. The Service will be run by a full time manager and a number of support staff and can be contacted at: 59-61 Drewitt House, 865 Ringwood Road, Wallisdown, Bournemouth BH11 8LL on 01202 572428.
Alabaré’s Chief Executive Andrew Lord said “I am very pleased to announce our first move into the Bournemouth area with the addition of the new Alabaré Bournemouth Floating Support Service. We will be able to provide help to around 200 homeless and vulnerable people a year, meaning that fewer will end up in Bed & Breakfast or other unsuitable accommodation and we can help keep people in their own homes.”
Alabaré already has four highly successful Floating Support Service projects in Wiltshire and North Somerset.
