Press Release
Help Alabaré protect the homeless this summer
With a heat wave upon us, Alabaré is giving you the chance to help protect Wiltshire’s homeless and vulnerable in a different way…with sun cream!
The Welfare Box Appeal, which was launched back in 2007 and runs throughout the year, asks people to fill a small box or bag with essential personal items such as soap, toothpaste and deodorant. These packages are then distributed to vulnerable and homeless people via our Wiltshire Drop In Centres.
During the winter months Welfare Boxes have contained additional items such gloves and hats to help with the colder temperatures, but with the sunnier weather now upon us the Appeal is suggesting some different things that could be included.
Sun cream, after sun lotion, sun hats and lip salves are all items that would be of great use to those who use the Drop In Centres at this time of year, many of whom have no choice to but to spend a lot of time on the streets exposed to the sun.
Welfare Boxes can be dropped off at our Main Office in Brown Street or at your nearest Drop In Centre.
The Wiltshire Drop In Centres in Salisbury, Devizes and Trowbridge offer a warm and welcoming safe daytime shelter for vulnerable adults who are homeless, facing homelessness or living in unsuitable accommodation. They provide hot meals and drinks, showers, laundry facilities and a clothing exchange service. They also offer support and advice on housing and employment.
