Mission: To provide a warm and welcoming Drop In service for vulnerable and homeless adults who are in need of crisis shelter, food and drink.
Alabaré runs two Drop In Centres in Wiltshire - in Salisbury and Trowbridge. The centres open their doors three days a week to vulnerable adults and young people who are street homeless, living in unsuitable accommodation or facing homelessness.
Our Drop Ins provide:
- Hot food and drink
- Showers and washing facilities
- Laundry facilities
- A clothing exchange service
- Trowbridge also provides Internet access.
Service users are given advice and information on a range of issues such as mental health, housing and employment. They are also signposted to other appropriate agencies and Alabaré services and projects.
Outcomes for clients:
- Access to facilities to help maintain basic health and well being.
- Access to information and other external agencies and services.
- Access to a safe daytime shelter where they can meet others.
- Increased self confidence, skills and capabilities.
- Support and encouragement with maintaining tenancies in recently acquired accommodation.
Last year at our Drop In Centres we served up nearly 12,500 free meals, handed out more than 100 sleeping bags and did over 400 loads of washing. More than 540 showers were taken.

For six years Alabaré also ran a Drop In Centre in Devizes, offering all of the same services as the above two. However, in October 2009 we handed the reins over to another local group.
The Devizes Drop In Centre will now be run by Devizes Opendoor. Alabaré will initially still provide some financial support to ensure a smooth transition for all involved.
